In the latter half of 2022, the retro, football-inspired kick made its way onto the feet of It girls like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski, and has since had a significant impact on the trainer scene. It's currently a part of every inspiring outfit I've saved on Instagram. The three stripes, round toe, and tan rubberized sole are all telltale signs of the Adidas Gazelle, after which Gucci based a luxury capsule collection. Sustainable Kicks
Sustainable fashion is a growing priority for the fashion industry, and designers are no exception. Although vegan sneakers have been around since at least 2023, they are now increasingly mainstream. Look at the S/S 23 runway show by Cecilie Bahnsen, where many of the dresses were accessorised with sneakers. Trainers have always been a staple in our outfits. That level of ease "really speaks to the brand," Bahnsen tells Footwear News. Bahnsen describes her collaboration with Asics to design a line of eco-friendly sneakers in the same interview.
